NOTW, On the big screen and the iPhone?

Greetings

I am wearing "Lotus", a sparkly purplish color from Zoya. Although this color has a sparkle to it, it does not include that hard to remove glitter. This polish comes off as easily as any other polish even though it apparently has some very fine glittery specs.

Are you interested in the new iPhone 5? I enjoy Apple products and I know that they are in the business of making gadgets but I am getting a bit tired of the constant upgrades. I do like the map turn by turn audio directions, and the advancements made with the camera and Siri but it is worth a new phone? Decisions decisions......

New anti- reversion serum and NOTW

Hello Everyone

I saw an advertisement about this new anti-reversion cream serum from Dark and Lovely but I thought it was just another product on the market that wouldn't live up to its claims.  However, after watching one of the Essence beauty editors talk about this product and how it helped her natural hair I became interested. I haven't relaxed my hair in a little over one year so I was interested in giving this product a try. Please note that this product is marketed towards relaxed women but since I heard a natural sing its praises I had to pick it up.
I tried it this weekend on my mother's relaxed hair as well as my hair which is part natural (1 year's worth of new growth  ) and relaxed (all the rest). I will give this product a formal review in the form of a video but hands down I will get this product again- LOVELY. The natural portion of my hair  did not receive all of the benefits that my mother's relaxed hair received but I was still very satisfied.

I also tried out my new nail polish from Zoya. Faye is a golden /purple/brownish polish that glides on beautifully. It is listed on the Zoya site as an opaque polish, but after one coat I still needed just a bit more to fully cover my nail bed. After a light second coat it was perfect. I love this color and I am so pleased that I purchased this $8 polish.

WNTW and the Failed NOTD

Here is my latest WNTW (What's New This Week) video highlighting a few of my latest purchases. If you scroll to the end of this post, you will also see my Julep nail polish in the color Amber which I tried to rock yesterday.






When I walked into Sephora and I saw a mini collection of matte suede Julep polishes, I knew this would be my moment to finally try out something interesting from the brand. I purchased two colors, one which is featured in this post named Amber.  The color reminds me of taupe mixed with pewter and combined it makes a really lovely shade. I did not use a base coat and I certainly didn't use a top coat which would disturb the intended matte finish.  Here is what the polished looked like on my freshly manicured hands.

You may get a better feel for the color in the video I posted above. Although I love the color and finish of this $14,  3Free formula polish, I did not appreciate its inability to remain on my nails.
Unfortunately, my manicure didn't even make it through the entire day before this matte polish began to chip.

Perhaps this issue only exists with the Julep matte collection, which would not be shocking since many matte formulas tend to be problematic in one way or another. Have you tried Julep polishes?  If so what has been your experience?

Bath & Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist Review

I must confess, I have a love hate relationship with Bath and Body Works. While I love that they always offer sales and feature a wide range of scents, I just hate the heavy scent of alcohol that seems to linger after every application. I believe that their new fine fragrance mists address that issue. I received the scent Sweet Pea in my Influenster box and I was excited when I discovered that the heavy scent of alcohol was unmistakably less noticeable. There clearly has been a change in the lab because my olfactory senses were able to take in the sweet pea scent without the harsh scent of alcohol. In fact I had stopped using the old BBW fragrances for that very reason, I just couldn't take that obnoxious scent.
Despite this great change in the fine fragrance mist, there is a caveat- the longevity of the product. I think the product lasts for hours on your cloths (roughly 4 hours) but on my skin it doesn't last nearly as long. I would say the scent of sweet pea is erased from my skin within an hour.  I should also mention that after spraying the old formula on my skin it would itch a bit, but I have experienced no itching with this new formula- YAYA.

Now that they are having their semiannual sale, you may want to pick up a few items from Bath and Body Works including the fine fragrance mist!

Sheer Cover Review

I'm sure we have all had a blemish or two that we just wanted to cover up before stepping out of the front door. Sheer coverage created a dual  sided concealer that you can use to cover up such blemishes. I received my Sheer Cover sample in my Influenster May box. I do not wear concealer but I was willing to give it a fair shot since it was provided in my box, however the darkest shade available was still not suitable for matching my skin tone. I received a sample in "dark"as shown in the above picture.

Let's first take a look at  a swatch of this concealer on my hand.
In this first picture I had the flash on my camera turned ON.

Here is the swatch with the flash turned OFF to enable you to get a better view of the shades.

 I tried to mix the colors to match my skin perfectly and this was the result.

At this point you're probably saying that this product matches my skin well. Well wait just one minute and let me know what you think after you see a picture taken with the flash turned ON.

At a slightly different angle and with my flash on, you clearly see the problem. I had the same experience on my leg when I turned the flash on and off. While this product feels unbelievably silky on my skin, and it can even withstand water being drizzled over my skin, the ashy appearance just wasn't acceptable. So this product will be a no go for me until there is a shade that matches my skin much better.
I do love the simple application of this product, the consistency is smoother than butter. The product also includes  jojoba oil which I appreciate.
