Operation Relaxation- Part 1, NOTW & More
After a long week at work what does a gal need more than a little down time? I decided to pick up a few items that would assist me in my journey towards relaxation and rejuvenation.
In this post I will focus on the Mint n Rose Spa Soak by Pooka Pure and Simple. As soon as you open the jar you are greeting by the scent of peppermint and roses. I have said many times on this blog that I do not like the scent of flowers and peppermint doesn't necessarily hit the spot either, but a combination of the two make this product a delight to inhale. I felt as if my nasal passages were wide open yet the scent wasn't overwhelming.
I used this product in my foot bath and on other occasions I dumped some of the contents of this 12 oz jar into my bath tub. Each time, both my feet and body felt soft and smooth. I didn't have any sore joints so I can't tell you if it helps in that area.
The ingredients include epsom and sea salts, rose petals, peppermint oil, as well as other natural oils. For only $12 this product was worth the money. Can you make this product at home? Of course you can, but I know I won't be drying rose petals any time soon so I can just pick up my bath soak from Pooka. I should also note that you obviously will be picking up rose petals from your bathtub after the water drains.
Happy Soaking!!!!
How do you unwind after a hard week?
Nail of the Week
This week I am wearing Charla by Zoya, this $8 polish is a close match for Watermelon Rind by China Glaze.
One coat looks pretty weak as shown in the picture below.
But after a second coat, this sparkling metalic polish is perfect. This is a glitter free product!
On the Big Screen
Oh Happy Day- Red Tails opens in theaters today. Please support this film which highlights the trails and accomplishments of the Tuskegee Airmen !!!! Did I mention that this film features some top notch actors including Mr. Terrence Howard...heeyy

They're Back, & Product Review
(Pic. courtesy of Essence.com )Tonight The Real Housewives of Atlanta return to the tube....will you tune it for the shenanigans? DeShawn Snow of last season has been replaced by Kandi B. formerly of the group Xscape. She has had much success in the world of song writing but she hasn't had much of a visual presence on our screens in years. Rumor has it sparks will fly between Nene and Kandi (and not good sparks either).

$30.00 off for PJD readers & A Hair Product review
Hello Everyone
My review is below but first I want to tell you about a special offer. Alicia from Whooga.Com is offering $30 towards any purchase made on the store sight. Whooga boots look just like Ugg boots to me so if you want a pair you can get $30.00 off. Here is what Alicia had to say "All your readers need to do is visit our website at www.whooga.com and enter the code PRODUCTJUN into the box in the cart. There are no conditions on it and we do ship to all countries."
I have never purchased Whooga boots but if you do come back and let me know how they feel.
Thanks Alicia

Body Hands, Lips hair and on the tube
You are looking at the Palmers Moisturizing gel oil which you can purchase for$9.99. Much like regular cocoa butter, palmers claims that this product will moisturize your skin. What I do like about this product is that is includes SPF 15 uva/uvb protection. If I am correct, there is another Palmers cocoa butter that already has spf but this is a thicker long lasting gel with the same level of protection. I like the product other than the fact that it may be a bit too greasy. Don't touch any documents immediately after applying this product because your fingerprints will be all over it. Perhaps a little expensive for a palmers product, but this isn't a bad buy.
Hands and Lips
This Aquaphor product pictured below can be used on dry hands and lips. Think of this product as a thicker version of vaseline. It is from the Eucerin company and I mentioned the thickness of their products in a previous post. Small enough to fit in your purse this 4.99 tube is ok by me, but it would be better if it had a little scent to it. Oh well, can't have everything I suppose.
Harlem Heights
Harlem Heights
What did you think of the first hour long episode? I love that people will have an opportunity to see Harlem in a new light. Love the fashions that I feel will make an appearance on the show...YAY. Although it started out just a tab bit slow, I will be tuning in for this series. I mean BET is really pushing this show, they even had the cast doing a KFC commercial...lol I'm thinking ok BET I'm already watching enough already...hehe.
Inappropriate?
I want your opinion please. Apparently some people feel that it is inappropriate for Michelle Obama to wear sleeveless outfits.
Personally I think those who came before her couldn't pull it off even if they wanted to, so they didn't, and their business suits became the standard. Some may now expect her to uphold that standard when she attends events. Secondly, she always looks appropriate to me and as a grown woman she can wear whatever she wants to wear. What do you think?
Hair
I think I am going to do my best to wait until May to get my touch up. If I last that long I would have stretched for 23 weeks. Has anyone stretched that long without facing complications?
Thanks

Shelly O and her mini fashionistas & My shoes
One area that I really like yet I tend to neglect on this blog is fashion, so let's get to it.....

Like most of you, I saw some of the sketches that designers put together for the Obama family and boy oh boy was I glad some of those designs were ignored. Ummm like Sean Combs' white blazer......
SHOES

Fashionistas the world over held their collective breath waiting for THE OUTFITS. From her J. Crew gloves down to her Jimmy Cho shoes she looked stunning in her one of a kind Isabel Toledo outfit. She then topped the evening off in a floor length ivory Jason Wu gown. What was your take on the designer digs that you saw yesterday?

I really appreciate it when little girls are dressed like little girls and not miniature grown women. Malia and Sasha debuted coats from the Fall 2009 J. Crew collection. The outfits were designed specifically for the little cutie pies.

Giving Back

You are looking at a new gift set from Aveda. I already blogged about the Aveda hand relief lotion but I have yet to discuss the wonderful foot relief lotion. The foot relief lotion is great to smooth out your skin and keep your feet in tip top condition through these cold winter months.
The key ingredients include castor oil, fruit acids, jojoba oil, lavender oil, and rosemary oil.
This new gift set features the hand and foot relief creams in both the regular and travel sizes. These gift sets are sold at Aveda for $40, but it is how Aveda is giving back that caught my attention. In the picture you may notice the beautifully crafted paper with embellishments alongside the Aveda logo. Aveda has been working with the people of Nepal to create these gift boxes in an attempt to sustain some of the families in Nepal. The gift boxes are so cute that I am pretty sure I will reuse them :-).
Have a great weekend everyone.
How are you giving back or how would you like to give back in the future?

Did you watch? &Winter Feet
Did you watch Housewives of Atlanta on Bravo last night? How is this beauty related you ask? Well you may have noticed some of the cute shoes, color palettes and dresses that appeared on the show last night so there's your connection..lol anyway I will be watching this season. (side question- do you think NeNe was intentionally kept off the guest list or was it a major oversight?)
Even though we are moving toward frigid winter weather we can not neglect our feet. I have been using the Dr. Scholl's Ultra Overnight Foot Cream which is a thick lotion made with aloe and palm oil that can be used to moisturize your feet. However this product can also be used on elbows, knees and your hands. I have to say that I would not purchase this product again, there really is nothing special about it. My feet may be moisturized for the moment but that feeling does not last long at all. It also has two different parabens in it so you already know I'm done with this product. This Dr. Scholl's product was made for the "SKIP IT" files.
Are you keeping your feet in shape even though winter shoes will hide your toes for the next few months?
Lauren, a loyal reader on this blog, asked about Mill Creek products so here is a picture of what I own. Two bottles of the Biotin Conditioner (I think because the packaging is different, I didn't realize that I already owned this product.) I also have the tingly Biotin deep conditioning treatment which is supposed to increase hair growth and improve the strength of your hair. You place this product on your scalp for a few minutes after you shampoo your hair. I have not used any of these products enough to properly review them so they just sit in my hair product dungeon. Perhaps I will give these products a fair shot soon. Has anyone experienced great results after using Mill Creek products?

Happy Feet
I have to exercise a little restraint because I almost put together another MAC post. Instead I am focusing on the new shoes that I got on my vacation. Both shoes are from Steve Madden and I received $10.00 off each pair. The purple bag in the background was given to each customer that purchased shoes. I know this does not happen in NYC (at least not at the Steve Madden Let's talk prices, the super comfortable high heels cost $99.00 but with my discount I paid $89, and the flats were $39.00 marked down to $29.00.

Shoe Shopping Saturday
"I'm sorry we don't have this shoe in your size". That is all I kept hearing on Saturday while I was shoe shopping. Nine West came to the rescue and offered the two shoes pictured above in my size. There were countless other shoes at Nine West that I wanted but my size was not available. When they did have a shoe that I wanted in my size, something was crazy with the fit, tight in the front and flopping off in the back. NW did offer a sale on certain items so I took advantage and got the black and white sling backs for $39.99. The brown embossed sandals are new and cost $89.00. I love heels and these purchases just whet my appetite for more shoe shopping.

I worked for my results
I buy products because I want them to do something for me, so I hate it when they make me do most of the work. Everyone wants smooth gorgeous feet so when I thought I had found a cream that could satisfy all of my foot related desires I was overjoyed. Soul Owner by Philosophy is an exfoliating foot cream that has both glycolic and salicylic acids. At one time or another both of those acids have done quite the little tap dance number on my face so I was certain that they would join forces and take down any rough patches on my feet.Since Soul Owner is referred to as an exfoliating foot cream I was expecting salt grains or exfoliating beads, but I got nothing except a thick lotion like substance. So I rubbed and rubbed and rubbed the lotion in and it just looked like I coated my feet in petroleum. My feet did look shiny but that is about it. The directions never mention that you need to wash the product off, so I kept it on my feet and then I tried to find the slightest improvement. After assessing my feet shininess (check), rough patches (check), not a single rough patch was removed or smoothed out. Finally I took a tissue and decided to rub this product off of my feet and only then did I see the tiniest skin flakes being removed. It was almost hard to see the skin that it did remove. This product is so not worth my time, so you can just "SKIP IT".
I blogged earlier about the Ped Egg and it is great but I just wanted to try something new.
You can purchase an exfoliating foot cream that will not make any difference in the appearance of your feet unless you scrub and scrub and scrub your skin off yourself for a mere $14.00.
How do you keep your feet in the best condition possible? Any special products you would like to recommend?

Ugly As Sin
Hello Everyone I am reaching out to see if anyone has tried the special footwear by MBT. My co worker told me about them yesterday and it appears that these performance shoes are designed to really work your muscles. The design of the shoe is supposed to work your leg muscles, stomach, posture, lower back pain, and even those hard to reach areas...lol. However, my dilemma is that these shoes are by no stretch of the imagination cute, so I would like feedback first. ( I picked one of the best pictures but these shoes get uglier)These shoes cost $245 but if they work I say wonderful the price is worth it. Just taking a walk in these shoes is like a workout, wearing them to the grocery store etc. Can you imagine doing a real work out in these shoes, it's like double the workout.
Word to the wise- I have read and heard that these shoes run extra small so if you decide to pick up a pair bump your size up at least 1 shoe size.
These shoes are available at Bliss Spa (the link will take you to the MBT section) and other locations.
Spring is here everyone so happy fitness!

The Incredible Inedible Egg
You may have laughed when you first watched the infomercial for the Ped Egg, I know I did. A device that you could move across your foot to remove hardened skin, yet it was gentle enough to graze a balloon without popping it? Shenanigans- that’s what I thought as I watched the commercial. Well my sister purchased a Ped Egg for me (was that supposed to be some type of hint????) so I figured, why not try it? I did not do the balloon test but I did use it on my feet and it is GREAT. No I do not have callous ridden horrible feet- just in case you were wondering....lol. But I do have areas that are ummm not as soft as other portions of my feet and the Ped Egg took care of that. It is like moving a gentle cheese grater across your feet and whatever skin is removed is contained in the inner chamber of the Ped Egg. The dead skin is held in the Ped Egg until you are ready to dispose of it, which should be after each use.Fact or Fiction
Now on the commercial they mention that you will not get any skin on your floor because the Ped Egg holds the removed skin inside of the device until you dispose of it. Well this is true to some extent, yes the removed skin does remain in the Ped egg but if you hold the Ped Egg at an angle the removed skin will slip through the grater area and fall on your floor or the keyboard of your computer :-) (dusting off keyboard). For the most part it really is fool proof, but the removed skin looks like tiny ash particles once it is removed, and it can easily slip through the grater so be careful.
You will also recieve two emery pads (one is an extra)that can be attached to the bottom of the Ped Egg to remove additional skin. The Ped Egg is a staple for smooth feet all year round.
http://www.mypedegg.com/ You will pay $10.00 for your Ped Egg.
Are your feet ready for Summer time sandals?
