Face & Hair

I have sensitive skin so toners usually don't work well on my face at least not until I found two toners, Rx for Brown Skin and Aveda All Sensitive. I posted on the Rx trio a long time ago so today is all about the Aveda skin toner. It includes grape seed extract, tumeric root powder and a host of other natural powders. Usually after using a toner my face gets very dry but not with this product. I also use the spraying method which I learned from an Aveda specialist. I noticed she did not put the toner on a cotton ball then rub it on my face. Instead she sprayed the toner on my skin after cleansing it and allowed the air to dry the toner. She mentioned that my skin would take in the toner and all of the rubbing may cause irritation etc. All I know is it's working, the product and her technique or maybe it's just the product, I'm not too sure..lol.
Priced at $19.00.
P.S. Thanks for your helpful suggestions Lauren, in answering Brownee's Q&A question. I totally forgot to mention that Brownee could use the Nexxus emergency product- which I own but have never used. I purchaed a tiny bottle from Rite Aid for $15.00. I had always heard that this is a great protein treatment if you are experiencing breakage or you need an added boost of strength. I have never needed to use this product so I can't honestly review it but I have it here just in case. Also to be honest I am a little afraid of this product since I heard that this little baby is strong and the instructions need to be followed carefully. I suppose that is the case with all protein treatments. Remember too much protein can be damaging to the hair so we all need to find the proper balance. And as Lauren mentioned the protein treatment should be followed up with a nice moisturizing conditioner to keep your stresses strong yet soft and manageable.
And I agree with you Brownee that Aveda Damage Remedy is a really great product!

Hmm, I don't use toners either but the "spraying" method makes so much sense!

I agree with B, spritzing it on makes a lot of sense.

I have some toners, but don't use them much. Usually, because I'm out of cotton pads. I think I would actually use a spray.

You're going to make my try Rx for brown skin yet.

I have very sensitive skin. One thing I purchased that has been a miracle for my face is Expert anti-blemish night moisturizer by Boots. I wear it day and night after washing my face. Loves it. I have the foaming face wash as well. Maybe I should go ahead and try their toner. You can get it all at Target for cheap.

@B & PBW it's actually working so I am glad for that.
@Jewells I think you would like it. I mainly use the cleansers from that line, either the gentle one or sometimes I get the exfoliating one...never tried the acne cleanser. thx for the boots info.
@BGG i hope you like the product when you use it..it is good stuff.
@Ren aveda just works for me on so many levels, they make really good products.

Off topic Diva, have you ever heard or used products by Jane Carter Solutions? She claims to make "natural & organic" hair & body ingredients. Have you ever used 1 of her products called Norish & Shine? Its a hair butter/cream made w/ shea butter & vitamins, 100% natural www.janecartersolution.com . Many ladies rave about it on the black hair forums & a fiend of mine said she also heard good things about it & is going to buy it. Just wondering if you've ever heard or used it b4 I buy it since you are the ultimate product junkie :)

Hey Lauren here is the post that I did a while back on the Jane carter product that I liked http://productjunkiediva.blogspot.com/2008/02/im-in-love.html honestly I have since found better products but I still own some of this moisturizer and the smell if nice.I never used the nourish and shine but my friend told me that it is just like the one I used except a little thicker. I dont think I ever posted on the conditioning spray but I didn't like it.
Let me know what you think if you get the nourish and shine.

Hi Diva, I did end up getting the Norish & Shine b/c I just couldn't resist lol & so I did use a little 2 nites ago & it is alittle greasy (which is y I'm scared to try it again lol) so Idk, not sure if I'm in love yet. Maybe I will try to apply alittle to my ends as a selant 2nite. I'll let you know the results.

maybe the one that I have, the ultra light version would have been a little better. However I don't think its better than that burdock root moisturizer anyway so it may not be worth it to buy it.
just my 2 cents ;-)

Thanks Diva! I conclude that the norish & shine is way too heavy for my hair (even a sm amount automatically weighs it down, boooo! lol) Now I have yet another product I will give away. I'm gonna start selling my "skip it" products on ebay I swear lol. You know I was thinking of maybe getting the ultra light version one you have but now after I read your post, I think I will take ur 2 cents & not to purchase it. Although the lighter version does sound nice & prob would have worked better 4 me than the norish & shine, I honestly don't have another $22 bucks to waste on a "okay/skip it" product. I've purchased & wasted $ on way too many products I know I will never use (or buy) again. And I agree, I have burdock root moisturizer & that's prob all I really need anyway. (I'm still loving it btw :))

Great- I agree you should keep working with the products that work for you. Jane carter may not be the best option...smells nice though :-).
