Black Friday Get this Not That- Part 1
Hello
Here is my Black Friday must buy list so far.

My Honey Child
- Honey Hair Mask and here is my old review of it. start at the 7:12 mark click here

I may want to check out Lime Crime cosmetics and Melt Cosmetics.
There are other items on my list, but they are not confirmed in my mind, so we shall see what happens with that. So my list this year looks like it will be pretty boring since I am mainly restocking, but you never know what will happen come BF.
In one of my other BF videos you will see a makeup item that I will definitely purchase.....stay tuned.
What are you picking up for BF....do tell :-)

I know you from....
Hello All
I saw a woman in a store and I knew she looked familiar, but I just couldn't remember where I had seen her. Had we met through a mutual friend? Was she an old school mate? Where did this woman make an appearance in my life? And then it hit me, "I knew her from Instagram." I struggled with what I should do with my new found information. Should I approach her, introduce myself and thank her for following me, or would that just be too weird. Perhaps I was wrong, maybe she only resembled the woman on Instagram. What added to my apprehension in approaching her is that I recognized her while she was at her place of employment, a place never mentioned in any of her posts. I didn't want her to feel as if I was invading a part of her life which she had not made public. So there I stood, motionless, as I grappled with how to address this situation.
Social networking is so often used as a tool to bring people together to share information, but it's also a means of escape for others. Some use social networking sites like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook merely to vent, seek encouragement or catch a glimpse into the lives of others. Despite our varied uses of social networking platforms, I think many of us can agree that social networking has in some ways altered interactions between humans. In years past had I come across someone who seemed familiar it's likely that I would have asked that person a direct question, hoping they remembered me too.
In the end, I didn't say hello to her and I believe my opportunity was missed, because I haven't seen her since. Have you every introduced yourself to someone you only knew online? Do tell :-)
P.S. If you see me, do say hello, unless I look a mess then please wash that image out of your head and continue to watch my Youtube videos.....lol. Kidding....kind of.

Shine Bright Like A..... (updated)
Hello Everyone
I know, I know, if I give one more speech about my absence on the blogging scene someone will want to flog me so I will spare you all.....so let's get on with all things BEAUTY.
When I noticed that Sephora started selling their Sephora by OPI polishes for a reduced price, I knew they were cleaning house but I didn't realize they would try to tap into the nail polish market by taking complete ownership and creating their own line of polishes. Sephora recently launched Formula X, it sounds like a top secret, mission impossible type of polish, but I thought whatever.....different bottle same old polishes. Well let me shut my mouth because Sephora came back with a kick. I first saw the full display last week and I thought cute but who cares, until I decided this week to take a closer look at their effects polishes. OMG. Of course they came out with standard colors, and a wide range of colors at that, but what stopped me dead in my tracks is their effects collection. Their effects polishes have been broken down into 13 categories, most featuring 12 or 5 variations of each effect.
You can find a complete list of the effects here but I decided to start by testing out the Sparklers division. I purchased both Drawn To You ( a champagne base with green 3D glitter) and Law Of Attraction ( a champagne base with 3D blue glitter). Don't take my word for it, go to Sephora and sample a little of the polish on your nail before purchasing...use the tester bottle of course..lol. The brilliant shiny champagne base coat was beautiful enough to capture my attention but the magnificent glittery specs of different sizes sealed the deal. Like any textured or glitter polish, I knew it would be annoying to remove but it was so pretty I just couldn't help myself. The modicum of self control that I tried to exhibit on that day was the only reason that I didn't leave with all of the Sparklers.
You know what this polish doesn't need? A TOP COAT, I don't mean to cyber scream but this polish is great. I know I just applied it last night but I don't see a chip in sight and it's still shining brilliantly.
Here are some pics.
The last picture was taken without flash to allow you to see this sparkly goodness all on its own.
Most of the polishes from this line cost $12.50 but you can get the base coat and other supplementary polishes for $10.50. And to top it all off, the polishes are indeed PARABEN FREE, in fact it is a 3 free polish.....did you squeal with excitement too?
I happen to be waiting on pins and needles for a 5 free polish that will soon hit the market from a fellow blogger Mischo Beauty, but until then I will bask in the glow of my Formula X Sparkers polish.
Lessons Learned
1)Not all store bands stink, well Target really taught me that lesson but it was reaffirmed through Formula X!
2)If you plan on teaming up with Sephora to create a product, Sephora may decide to drop you and destroy the competition...note to OPI.
I see that Sephora took a few cues from other polish brands and simply rolled it all into their Formula X collection. They have polishes that are holographic, 3D, sparkly, chrome finishes, jelly, lusters, and a bunch more.
UPDATE- I washed my hair tonight and chipping ensued...I guess a top coat would have helped., however, I still like this polish.
Have you purchased any of these beauties?
Thanks for reading.

NOTW (Nail Of The Week)
Hello All
It's been a while since I've shown a nail of the week, so this week I decided to jazz it up a bit. I first applied slapper from Butter London, then I topped it off with the ever so glittery "Happy Birthday" coat from Deborah Lippmann. I received this sample of the Deborah Lippmann polish from Sephora for 100 of my beauty points. Sephora now sells the full size bottles of the DL polishes if you are interested. I only applied one coat of each polish.

Strike a Pose with Tarte
Hello All
When I first mentioned the lights camera flashes mascara from Tarte, I knew that it would become one of my favorites. I have since purchased back-ups for my back-ups, because that's how wonderfully this mascara works on my lashes. Now, Tarte is offering lash enthusiasts a special offer which can be found exclusively at Sephora. For $19 you can get a mini Lights, Cameras, Flashes mascara and a limited-edition gold picture perfect eye lash curler.
Have you tried Lights, Cameras, Flashes? If so, what say you?

NOTW- Fall Collection
Hello
While browsing through Walgreen yesterday looking for absolutely nothing in particular, I stumbled upon the Fall Sally Hansen Sugar Coat collection.
I picked up two colors but today I am featuring Red Velvet because it is very cute and actually looks like crushed red velvet. The pic below features nearly three coats of this polish. This color has a metallic undertone which I appreciate...very cute Sally! Although the textured aspect of this particular bottle of polish seems to have become more subdued with this new collection, I don't mind since I still get a bit of texture and a pretty color. As you can see I paid $7.49 per bottle, I should have waited to get it at Target but I was anxious.....ahhh the life of a product junkie.
And here is the second pic which lets you see more of the color in the bottle, along with the name of the shade. I may end up getting a few more shades from the fall collection.
What colors are you rocking now?
Here is the link to my past textured polish post.
Thanks for reading.
NOTW
Hello
Hopefully you were able to partake of the Zoya BOGO sale that ended yesterday. If not, here are a few fun colors that I have been rocking from Zoya.
First up is Rocky, a sweet light blue color, that screams summer.
And on my nails, this opaque polish only needed one coat, but I still decided to double up.
Next up is another $8 Zoya polish named Malia:
I still adore Zoya, but please let me know which polish brands you love.
Thanks for reading.

Did Sally Hansen Nail it?
Hello
Is it me or has the world of nail polish and nail care been elevated to a level not seen since the emergence of the Lee Press On nail craze. Ok so maybe I am dating myself, but the point is if ever you wanted your nails to have a little extra pizzazz then this is the era for you. Not wanting to be left behind Sally Hansen has jumped on the textured nail polish bandwagon to give us the Fuzzy and Sugar Coat collections. Pictured below is the Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat collection, each bottle features multicolored flecks that are floating in a clear base polish.
The Application Process
The colored fuzzies that you see above are swimming in plain old clear nail polish. If you would like, you can simply apply the fuzzies on to your nails and go. However, I think these polishes look best if you use a colored base coat and then apply the fuzzy color of your choice. Since these bottles are filled with many individual fuzzies, you may find that while painting your nails the fuzzies are not evenly distributed, so you may be required to readjust the fuzzies or apply an additional coat.
The Removal Process
The textured polish removal process can be just as grueling as it is to remove glitter polishes. The fuzzy polishes leave those fuzzy little flecks on my fingers after I have removed the polish. I generally have to either wash my hands at the sink or have a towel nearby for a quick clean up job. On a scale of 1-10 where 10 represents great difficulty, I would rate the fuzzy removal process at a 7. The difficulty in removing the fuzzies increases as you apply more coats.
Price
I've seen the fuzzy polishes priced anywhere from $5.69-$8.99, so you may have to keep your eyes peeled if you're looking for the best deal. I purchased my fuzzy polishes from Target for roughly $5.69 and then I used my $2 off coupons...SCORE!
Comparisons
Before the fuzzies hit the scene you may have seen their distant cousins "effects" by Essie and "feathers" by Nails Inc. Although they may have different names they all seem to be the same product. I didn't purchase the feathers polish from Nails Inc but I certainly tried it on at the Sephora nail bar. Once the polish dried I didn't see a reason to fork over $9.50. The main difference is that the Nails Inc polishes are formulated without some of the harsh chemicals typically found in nail polish, so that may be worth the higher price tag. Nevertheless, the chemical laden Sally Hansen fuzzy polishes are offered in more colors than you would typically find in other feather/ effect polish collections.
So let's get to it, here are the fuzzy coats that I purchased.
The orange and yellow color is named "Peach Fuzz".
Here it is on my nails without a colored base coat:
In this next pic, I cleaned my nails then I applied Kennedy by Zoya
Finally, I applied Peach Fuzz over Kennedy
Next up I have one coat of the black and white fuzzy polish named Tweedy.
In the picture below I applied Trixi by Zoya, a high shine silver metallic polish.
Then I topped Trixie off with Tweedy.
As you may have noticed, if you use a light base, the white fuzzies may blend in a bit but the black fuzzies in the Tweedy polish really pop. The opposite happens if you use a dark colored base coat as shown below when I used a black polish, Zoya's Raven, as my base coat.
For more Sally Hansen textured fun, check out the full sugar coat line along with my swatches.
Below are the colors that I purchased from the Sugar Coat line. The green color is the only one that isn't pictured above, but you can see it clearly in the picture below.
Here are the colors that I purchased:
Sugar Fix
No ma'am this looked like white out that had congealed in the bottle, I didn't like it at all. It's only fair to state that I am never excited when it comes to white polish, so my distaste for this color wasn't a huge shocker. I was hoping that the textured nature of this polish could temper my aversion to white polish, but alas that was not the case. In fact the white polish even seemed to have a chalkier texture, which was equally displeasing.
Bubble Plum
I think a little of my cuticle oil may have trickled onto my nails giving it a shinier appearane, however the color that you see and texture is completely accurate.
Sour Apple
The sour apple color just looks delicious to me, this one may be my favorite.
Razzelberry
Previously I wrote a post about the blue Razzelberry Sugar Coat polish, but feel free to check it out again. You should look at my previous post on this color to get a better view of the texture of this particular polish. Click Here
In answer the to question posed in the title of this blog, I say eh, Sally did enough to stay in the textured game, they are probably better than many of the store brand textured polishes that I've purchased. The Fuzzy Coat collection is on par with the feathers and effects textured polishes, but the sugar coat is a bust when compared to Pixi dust from Zoya. Although Pixi Dust is a different type of textured polish I am mainly referring to the quality of the texture. If you look at the Sally Hansen images, the sugar coat polishes seem to perform much better than it did when I painted my nails so that's a bit of a problem for me. Overall, it isn't horrible and it's a nice way to change up your look this summer.
So have you taken a dive into the textured nail polish pond?
Which brands feature your favorite textured polishes?

Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure
Hello
UPDATE below.
As you may recall in my Influenster Spring VoxBox I received the Broadway brand imPress press on nail manicure for review. My first challenge was the color, I received the bright and I mean bright pink shade shown in the picture above. The nails were shiny as promised by the Broadway brand but I decided early on that since pink isn't my color I would paint over the pink color. I haven't done this yet since I don't have to leave my home today, but I will do it before going to work tomorrow. I thought the mock nail polish bottled used to house the nails was a cute idea.
I applied the nails easily by removing the sticky tab and simply pressing the fake nails on top of my nail. It was nice to see how easily the nails were able to adhere to my natural nail. The most difficult part was finding nails that fit well on top of my nail. In this area I think this product failed, I don't think I have large fingers at all, yet they aren't too small either, I would consider my finger size and nail bed area to be average. Surprisingly though I had portions of my real nail peeking out from this fake nail.
The instructions encourage you to go with a smaller nail rather than a bigger nail if you can't find your exact size and that's what I did. I suppose using a bigger size would have allowed for more gapping making it easier for the nails to fall off.
After getting the nails on I went to sleep totally expecting the nails to have popped off by morning but they were completely in tact. I also have to mention that the nails were short so I appreciated that because my natural nails are not very long so I was comfortable with the length.
This product is supposed to come with 24 nails, I received 23, no kidding, I even counted several times. At any rate some people have been able to get two applications out of this product, which for the price wouldn't be so bad if only I could find my correct size. The product retails for $5.99 for colored nails and $7.99 for patterned nails.
I will update this post as the week progresses to let you know exactly how long this product lasts on my nails. If you are used to or like fake nails then you may want to use this easy on the go system. However, I didn't find enough nails that fit my fingers and there was also this oddly shaped extra piece of plastic at the tip of the nail which made it convenient to snag on just about anything. Perhaps you can make our that extra square, raised piece at the tip of each nail, if so, that's the snaggy section.
This definitely wasn't my cup of tea but if you have worn these nails, please feel free to share your experience.
Here is a link to the Broadway imPress nail site
UPDATE- these nails are hanging strong with no sign of letting go. They were applied on Sunday night, I washed my hair on Monday and still these nails have stayed put. I am writing this update on Wednesday evening and I think I can actually make it through the work week with these nails. At least regarding the staying power, these babies are tough!

Tastykake Kandy Bar Kakes
Hello
As you know from my previous video, I received the Influenster Spring VobBox, which included the new TaskyKake Kandy Bar Kake. This product was sent specifically for review purposes and product recommendations. This cake-like product comes in three flavors, I received the s'mores flavor. This is supposed to be the perfect combination of a familiar flavor rolled into a cake, and I must say that it did taste like a s'more.
The cake was cloaked in Hershey's chocolate, and the center filling was sweet yet light. Please excuse the appearance of this cake, I accidentally smashed it a bit.
However, the actual cake portion of this product was dry, perhaps that was intentional to mimic the graham cracker of a traditional s'more. The cake portion was so dry that it was almost crumbling, and that's not what I expect when I decide to eat a treat that includes cake. I would have appreciated a more moist cake, that would have pulled the entire product together.
My final recommendation to the TastyKake brand would be to make a moist cake, this was too dry to bear the word Kake/cake in the product name.
If you're interested in this product here is the pricing information- retail single $1.69 family pack $4.49. Here is your link to the TastyKake site.
Have you tried this product? If so, please share your thoughts.

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Polish Review -NOTW
Hello Everyone
There are two new textured polishes on the market from Sally Hansen.
The fuzzy coat polish is nearly identical to the Nails Inc "Feather" polishes. Both Sally and Nails Inc offer the fuzzy or feather polishes in a variety of colors, but I will get to that in a future post because today is all about the sugar coat.
This sugar coat line is available in 8 colors : mint green , blue, purple, pink, red, black, off white and yellow. The blue color is named Razzelberry and it is shown in the picture below.
Another pic
In my opinion, this polish requires two coats because one coat looks grainy and streaky as shown below
Here is a close up picture of the texture (2 coats applied on each nail)
As you can see the texture looks pretty bumpy.
The removal process is not bad, perhaps a little more work is involved in removing it than you would experience with a non textured polish, but it wasn't horrible. On a scale of 1-10 where 1 is not very difficult and 10 represents great difficulty, I would rate this polish at a level 4 or 5.
When this sugar coat polish is compared to the Pixi Dust collection from Zoya this textured polish isn't as beautiful, but it is certainly a fun polish to rock and the fact that it takes less work to remove than Zoya or some of the other textured polishes, makes it a winner for me.
I have worn this polish for two days now and it has not chipped. I did not apply a top coat.
Price: $7.99 but at Duane Reade I pulled a $2.00 off coupon so please look for that too. It looks like Target will sell this polish for $6.99 and if you couple that with the $2.00 coupon you're in business.
Would you rock a sugar coat polish?

Knowledge is Power
Hello Everyone
There are few things worse than feeling powerless in a situation. We have self defense classes, empowerment seminars, self-help books and other resources designed to help us to become more informed on a range of topics. Knowledge gives us an advantage, because it is less likely that we can be easily misguided by anyone if we have a true understanding of the topic at hand. If we are not armed with knowledge we end up deferring to the opinions, suggestions or decisions of those who are considered to have a better understanding of the subject. One area that is at times overlooked by women is the auto care industry.
You stand with the mechanic and if you don't really understand the inner workings of your car you may end up agreeing to all sorts of "seemingly necessary" adjustments to your vehicle. There are many honest mechanics out there but there are also unscrupulous mechanics who want to suck as many dollars out of your wallet as possible. I was intrigued when asked to read the ebook Fearless Auto Care : A Guide To What Women Should Know About Their Cars" because learning more about cars has been on my to do list for a very long time. After checking out this book I walked away with many priceless gems, but I think this book can help everyone to do two things. First you will learn to speak intelligently about your vehicle to anyone including your mechanic. Secondly you will be able to understand the early warning signs that your car may be in trouble.
I picked up so many points from this book, for example, I had no idea that going to a mechanic's shop and asking for a "tune up" could mean different things at different auto shops! What I appreciated most is that this book doesn't hand all of the answers to you on platter because there are some variations between vehicles. You are instead encouraged to get certain pieces of information from your car manual, this will allow you to tailor the information to the specific needs of your car. This book even included a few pictures that were used to explain the mysteries under the hood. I honestly could have been helped with even more pictures, but maybe that will appear in book #2 :-).
From shocks and struts to worn tires, this book is a road map to understanding your car. I would suggest that everyone not familiar with how vehicles work, read this book. I've never been so eager to engage someone in an auto conversation, but when my next encounter happens, I'll be ready.
If you're interested in purchasing this book you can do so by clicking here .
The ebook will cost you $5.00 and the printed edition costs $9.97.
I'm curious, have you ever found yourself at the mercy of your mechanic without knowing whether or not you were being swindled?
Thanks for reading.

Zoya is back at it again, trying to rid the word of toxic polishes. If you give Zoya a few of your polishes, you can get their beautiful toxic free polishes for half price. With sadness I have to report that the pixi dust collection is not included in this great offer.
Please note that Zoya is a 5 Free polish company, not just free of three toxic chemicals but 5!
Those nasty chemicals include formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, dibutyl pthalate, toulene and camphor.
Happy Shopping.
