During a post on Friday I mentioned that I would put myself on product probation. During this period which will last for who knows how long, I will not purchase any products until my supplies completely run out. This product free period would allow me to catch up on all of the posts that I am backed up on as well as allow me an opportunity to get more space since my current product area is EXPLODING. I was so proud of myself because I knew that I had everything that I could possible need in my home so I didn’t step foot into a store. I didn’t make a single product related purchase all weekend. Hey probation is going to be a breeze I thought, until I remembered that on Saturday I placed an online Aveda order. I ordered the Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing shampoo and conditioner since Just Wondering raved about it in one of the comment sections on my blog. I don’t even need this so why do I feel the need to try it, I am so annoyed with myself. I also ordered the large Damage Remedy treatment even though my current supply is more than half full. Then I made my way over to drugstore.com to order that Giovanni cocoa body scrub that DE and Justme spoke about.
Probation is no walk in the park, but in true Frugalista style I may document how much money I am saving by not making as many purchases as usual.

Good for you!!! I really need to go on probation too!! I think you've just inspired me. I'm starting today!!!
Thanks for this post. :-)
Hang in there. When you see the money you saved down the line and your finances in order you will be happy and proud of yourself.
I agree with BBG and CC. You are doing the right thing. Frugalizing is life changing. :)

probation is tough!
I was doing it and i am out of the program.
as soon as i have all i need, i'm going back to the program...
I feel you on this! I'm on spending money probation. I'm trying to move, buy furniture, and get married in the next two months! Everytime I want to buy something I assign an item to it. Like "Ohhh I want these shoes but I could use that money to buy sheets for the bed" It's helped knowing I can get something better in a little while because I behaved.
Good for you!! I think you are doing a really GREAT thing.

I think I need to join you. Your blog and a few others have made it hard on me and my wallet. But thanks to y'all I have found some awesome products.
Wishing you the best in product junkie intervention=)
@BGG Well so far I only have two product free days under my belt but I am glad I could help. :-)
@CC I can't wait to see how much I save, that will be so inspiring. My finances are actually good but I just want to see what my product free days will equal in savings. The sad thing is I will probably go on a shopping spree..lol Let's hope not.
@Frugalista I'm with ya on that.
@hair a mania yes please join me...lol
@Amina You're out????? Ok I will see you back in probation when you get back on this site.

Probation certainly is not easy... especially for someone with blog called "Product Junkie Dive." LOL You practically owe it to your readers to buy and buy often. Haha, my husband actually somehow got me to do something similar with conditioners. I have so many under my cabinet that he challenged me to go 3 months without purchasing any. And stubborn me cannot turn down a challenge! Good luck girl!
@Mrs. Brookaltimore I have enough products to carry my posts a long way..lol
I think I am focused and I will do well on probation, at least I hope so..lol
PJD
im so proud of you diva
if it gets worse than this you might need an inervention lol
Hey James
LOL thanks for the support.
