Do Over

I both love and hate this scrub! I love it because it really makes my skin feel smooth and the ingredients are great. Talk about natural ingredients, this Nubian Heritage scrub in Raw Shea includes the following: soy milk, vitamin E, frankincense &myrrh (may contain-brown sugar, sea salt, honeysuckle cocoa butter aloe juice, lemongrass oil and a list of oils that continues down to the end of the ingredient list.) Not one harmful ingredients in sight, this is an all natural product with certified organic ingredients. And the scrub does work.
My Problem
When I was buying this scrub a sale associate raved about this product, in fact she dragged me over to the counter and introduced me to the product (the Nubian Heritage counter wasn't even her section). She said " I love this scrub, but I let all of the oil run off before I use it."
This scrub has a layer of oils just hanging out on top of the scrub, I've seen this before in scrubs so it wasn't anything new to me.
I decided to keep the oil and scoop it up with the product as I scrubbed in the tub. The scrub leaves your skin oily, almost to the point where you don't need lotion after leaving the shower. This could be a good or bad thing depending on your personal taste. The only problem is that my skin does not respond well to too much oil so just below my collar bone I broke out. Nothing too terrible remained on my skin but it was a bit unsettling since I am a v neck shirt kind of gal. Anyway it quickly cleared up and I haven't used the scrub since, but I will use it again.
I think for my skin I just need to drain off the oil as the woman mentioned because it may be a little too much for me.
Although this product deserves a do over from me overall I like it and I would probably get it again....or just make my own version at home. :-)
This scrub is priced at $22.00. I found this company as Macys but you can show online through their website.
Take a look at the other scrubs available through NH.
Any certified organic products not work out for you? Have you ever tried anything from Nubian Heritage? Do you prefer scrubs with or without the oil?

i usually love scrubs with oil....
i have to say though that i agree with you too much oil ...eew...plus the bath tub becomes so slippery

How was the scent of this product? Did they add any fragrance?

@Amina I see we are on the same page
@n_vizion no fragrance has been added, it is just the scent of those oils coming together. I dont quite remember which one but when i was at the counter there was one with a better scent. my version smells almost like nothing, I guess all of the oils together cancel each other out in some way.

You can't help but have a love-hate relationship with scrubs with oils. I completely know where you are coming from! A sista is liable to bust her ass--silky soft skin and all. But it's worth it if it works. Just gotta cut the oil in the tub wiiiith....magic soap. Yep, I clean my tub with magic soap and peppermint scented baking soda and it works like a charm!

I tried a scrub with the oil once and couldn't get past all that dang on oil. And like you said, no lotion was needed. But how I adjusted the usage was to use the scrub first then regular soap.

I love Nubian Heritage stuff, particularly the bar soaps......the lotions are ok, they don't last long, I wind up having to put more lotionon after a few hours.

Sounds like this is my kinda scrub! :-)

My skin needs all of the oil it can get!

I am going to have to try this. Connecticut winters are no joke and I dry out something horrible. I made my own brown sugar scrub last winter.

I like the feel of oily scrubs, but usually pass on 'em because I'm scared of slipping in the tub.

Diva, give Philosophy's Amazing Grace sea salt scrub a try. It's thick n' pasty like, they don'y OD on the oil. But you still get THE GLOW! :p
