Yesterday I heard someone on the radio say that people who do not get 8 hours of rest daily are generally overweight. I know that our bodies need this period for cell regeneration and other things but I am still not getting my 8 hours.
How many hours a day do many of you sleep? Has anyone bumped their hours of rest up in an attempt to lose weight?

If I get 6 thats alot!
i don't get as much sleep as i would love too. I agree with the fact that if you don' get enough sleep you can get overweight. The more you stay up, your body needs fuel and you find yourself nibbling or eating sweet foods....
as soon as i am done with papers, i am going to catch my zzz
@Eliana same here, sadly I am usually running on 3-4 hours, but that will soon change.
@Nywele yes that is true also.
A while back I heard the singer lil mo on the radion and the radio personality asked her how she lost weight. Mo's resposne was "Im jsut sleeping now, I wasn't really sleeping before and now I am".
I will follow suit and let you all know how it works out for me.

I have forced myself to go to bed early so I won't eat at night. Usually, I get 7 hours.

I usually get 7 if I dont go out that evening... usually midnight-7:30 I'm out...
and no I didnt no that sleep was related to weight so have never tried that
I would think more sleep would make you gain weight because your not moving... but that's just me
Eb you are right around the perfect number of 8 hours so you are doing well. The resports don't support sleeping all day but it was really talking about those who don't sleep enough, your body doesnt have the time it needs to do what it has to do to keep your body in order so your body gets a little out of wack.
Also some of the hours that you are awake should be spent doing something active, like exercise.
