I think it really is dead!

The bus was completely packed, standing room only, when a 30 something, stiletto wearing wall street ready woman stepped on the bus. I literally saw men look around for available seats and when they realized none were left, they buried their heads in newspapers, pretended to be deep in conversations or allowed their eyes to look everywhere except at this woman standing. When did this happen, when did the time come when men no longer stand when a woman enters a room, or offers his seat, pulls out chairs or opens doors? I have heard some men claim that women have made it clear that we can do all of the aforementioned activities for ourselves, and we can, but that doesn't mean we all want to forego the polite gestures of men.
I can't speak for all women but I know that I appreciate a man who at least attempts to be chivalrous.
Is chivalry really dead? Men would you have offered this woman your seat? Ladies how do you feel about a man offering his seat, are you insulted or do you willingly accept his kind gesture? I just had to get that off of my chest, now back to our regularly scheduled beauty reviews below.

if im wearing heels and been hiking all day through the DC and get on the bus (i dont know why that would happen now that i have a car but it could), then imma need a gentleman to give up his seat. either that or a young boy. if im wearing flats and/or my feet don't hurt, i don't really care. if it was really bad, i could see myself actually being arrogant enough to request a seat. but i can take no for an answer, i might frown up my face but im not gonna curse you out or nothin'.

Yes chivalry is dead. I drive to work, but when I do happen to ride the subway, many men will stay seated when even pregnant or elderly women step on--so I know my behind is in trouble!

Hello Ladies,
@Antithesis I would want the seat but I can't really envision myself asking for the seat.
LOL @ TravelDiva you are so right, if the elderly and pregnant women have to stand we can forget about it.

I don't think chivalry is dead at all. Of course, I find that southerners and older gentleman are more chivalrous than others.

Honestly, I think chivalry is dead. I personally probably would be quick to give my seat up for a child or elderly person.

Chivalry is dead! I mean I commute and take the bus to work everyday and I do witness men who get up for the elderly, women with babies or who might me pregnant thats about it though. I don't think chilvalry is being taught as heavily as it use to back in the day. Don't expect men to stand up on the bus anymore...put on the sneakers for the commute to work. I think there are still a few men out there that still do it though...

I would definitely take a seat if a man were polite enough to give his up! ESPECIALLY if I'm wearing heels!! =)

Oh PJD it is soooo dead lol I can't remember the last time I saw a man give his seat up for a woman! As Bellefille mentioned I don't even think its something that young boys are being taught anymore. I spoke to a friend of mine about the topic and he told me that if a women shows attitude expecting a man to give up his seat he makes no moves to get up! However, he did mention that he'd stand for an elderly woman. So maybe there are 1 or 2 men out there who still Believe! lol but that's it!

Yes Malibu, I would probably take a seat as well. I do recall one time though when I decided to let the guy sit and he just had to hold my bags on his lap..lol Though we were not personal friends we would always say hello while waiting for the bus etc. so holding my bags wasn't too bad was it?
@Bellefille I see you are firm in your response..lol it is DEAD
@Just_wondering I wish people would teach their sons all about chivalry..it may be a lost art (sigh).
